Hello Boulder Public Library!
My name is Evan Gallagher and I’m writing to express my interest in the Boulder Public Library’s Graphic Designer position. I believe that my professional graphic design experience, passion and involvement in athletics, and strong organization skills position me to be a valuable addition to your operations.
My recent experience involved working on a diverse variety of projects with small businesses and organizations. I was tasked to develop design solutions that align and improve brand standards which have prepared me for this opportunity. I was contracted to partner with the Homeless Pet Placement League to redesign their visual identity to appeal to a younger audience of fosterers in the Houston area. The result is expected to increase the number of younger members substantially over the next two years.
As a Sales Associate at CT Run Co. I’m responsible for maintaining a strong relationship with customers and assisting them in finding the right products through my extensive knowledge of the running industry. I also worked with CT Run Co. to design a new visual identity for the newly rebranded Ridgefield Road Fest where I was tasked with designing a new logo from concept to creation that aligns with the brand’s standards and race history. This event will take place in October and is expecting over 1,000 participants, which is a record number made possible by my contributions to this project.
Beyond my experience, my skills in design and brand management will enable me to succeed in this position. In addition to my proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, my experience with Microsoft Office, photography, video editing, and web content design make me a multifaceted creative. My strong communication, project management, and layout and composition skills prime me to execute the Boulder Public Library’s vision and goals.
I believe my experience designing and managing brands for small businesses and organizations has prepared me to excel in this position. My skills in relationship building and management in customer facing roles make me a great leader and collaborator.
